摘要
Equivalence testing provides a statistical framework to assess whether two conditions can be regarded as practically indistinguishable. Its classical use has been in the approval of generic medicines, where therapeutic equivalence must be demonstrated with respect to key pharmacokinetic parameters. However, important challenges remain, particularly in multivariate settings where current procedures often lack sufficient power. This is especially relevant for locally acting drugs, such as topical or inhaled treatments, where the therapeutic effect is exerted at the site of administration rather than systemically. Their evaluation typically involves small sample sizes, complex experimental designs, and substantial variability, making standard approaches inadequate. Beyond pharmaceuticals, equivalence testing also provides a natural framework for assessing fairness in finance, for instance in credit allocation, where the burden is on demonstrating the absence of systematic differences across groups. In this talk, I will present recent methodological developments that improve the performance of equivalence tests, including advances for multivariate and adaptive settings, with applications highlighting both pharmaceutical research and fairness in financial decision-making.
主讲人简介
Stéphane Guerrier是日内瓦大学药学院统计学与数据科学副教授，并领导该校的数据分析实验室（Data Analytics Lab）。他拥有洛桑联邦理工学院（EPFL）的工程学背景，研究领域涵盖信号处理、高维统计学，以及面向医学和药学研究的生物统计方法。目前的研究项目包括生物等效性评估、自适应临床试验设计、异质数据的迁移学习，以及高维情形下的统计推断——这些工作均与国际学术界和工业界合作伙伴密切协作开展。该项研究得到了瑞士国家科学基金会（Swiss National Science Foundation）多个项目的资助。
